Even though the sun is shining and school is out, this summer will be one unlike any other.

Parents are usually prepared for summer breaks, with childcare and camps rearranged in advance. Even with some restrictions lifted, many summer camps and childcare services will not be possible this year. Luckily there are lots of ways to still let kids be kids and enjoy the summer while also keeping them and others safe.

    Outdoor

Even if we are social distancing, it is physically and mentally good for kids to spend time outside. On days where the weather is pleasant, any one of these activities will keep your kids engaged and enjoying the summer weather.

    Plant a Garden

    Start a Workout Challenge

    Backyard Camping

    Pack a Picnic

    Host a Field Day

A classic field day can be so much fun and bring a little competitiveness out of the whole family. Set up activities such as the 3 legged race, backyard obstacle courses, potato sack races using old pillowcases, and water balloon tosses and watch the fun unfold! Offer prizes like a no chore day or choosing dinner one night.

    DIY Projects

Crafts and DIY projects are the perfect way to keep your kid's attention and the creativity here is endless. Try making a bird feeder out of a milk carton or a scavenger hunt complete with prizes.

    Indoor

    Household Bake Off Challenge

    Karaoke Competition

    Break Out the Board Games

    Make Chores Fun with Prizes

In response to the recent demand, many online learning platforms are offering free access to their services. Whether you’re looking for language apps, video conferencing tools, or online learning software, it’s all out there to keep your child learning and engaged this summer.

    4th of July at Home

The 4th of July is arguably one of the most exciting days during summer vacation for a child. There’s usually swimming, delicious food, family, friends, and fireworks. This year’s celebrations will look a bit different this year since community events are being canceled across the country. But, backyard BBQs and virtual firework displays will still make you feel as patriotic as ever.
